Marine
Australia’s marine industry capital
The Gold Coast is one of Australia’s most established marine industry centres, bringing together advanced manufacturing, boatbuilding, superyacht refit and servicing, marine technology, specialist services and a highly skilled workforce.
Home to more than 530 marine businesses, supporting over 5,700 jobs and generating approximately $2.18 billion in annual business output, the industry is anchored by the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at Coomera and supported by an extensive network of marinas, shipyards and specialist suppliers.
Future growth is supported by three strategically important marine precincts: the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at Coomera, the Southport Broadwater and The Spit, and the Northern Marine Precinct at Steiglitz, providing opportunities for new infrastructure, industry expansion and investment.
Combined with extensive waterways, established marine infrastructure and an internationally recognised lifestyle, the Gold Coast offers a compelling destination for marine businesses, investors, superyachts, vessel owners and operators from Australia and around the world.

Gold Coast Marine Precinct
The Gold Coast Marine Precinct is a dedicated 250-hectare industrial zone in Coomera. This precinct has the highest density of marine trades in Australia with over 5000 skilled staff working from the hub each day. It includes marine manufacturing, servicing, repairs and refits of recreational boats. It has 2 of the most awarded shipyards in Australia and is one of the most advanced and respected marine industry cluster developments in the southern hemisphere.
Dredging program
A multi million dollar annual dredging program maintains 14 kilometres of the Broadwater and Coomera River. This allows large vessels up-river to undergo refits and maintenance work at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct.
Customs clearance port
An official Australian Border Force clearance port is located at the Southport Yacht Club and is easily accessible from the Gold Coast Seaway.
This Port of Entry is for visiting international yachts, making the clearance process quicker and more convenient. Having a customs port in our city allows foreign superyachts and other vessels to sail directly into the Gold Coast Seaway.

Superyacht industry
Superyacht infrastructure
We are home to 170 superyacht berths across 10 major marinas, including Australia’s largest floating megayacht berth at 160m in length, which was developed in collaboration with the Queensland Government and Southport Yacht Club.
A $65,000 Superyacht Simulation Report was also completed, allowing vessels up to 130 metres to enter the Broadwater and access the new megayacht berth at the Southport Yacht Club.
